Alberto Campo Baeza

We have celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Universidad Laboral de Almería building. The project is the result of the generosity of architect Julio Cano Lasso, who invited me to collaborate on this building, with both of us signing and charging equally for the work. I, in turn, invited architects Miguel Martínez Escanciano and Antonio Más Guindal to join the team.

The celebration was heartfelt, with a significant number of attendees on April 4th, 2025. The event was culminated with the unveiling of a plaque, marking the building’s inclusion in the archive of the Docomomo Foundation (Documentation and Conservation of buildings, sites, and neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement).

The building is well-preserved and remains in excellent condition, which brings great satisfaction to the architects involved, as it is gratifying to see our work so well understood and cared for.

The conference and the other commemorative activities for the 50th anniversary were organized jointly by IES Portocarrero, the Carmen de Burgos School Residence, and the Official College of Architects of Almería.
