2026 JULY, ALBERTO CAMPO BAEZA AWARDED AN HONORARY DOCTORATE BY LUSÍADA university, LISBON
On 26 June 2026, a public ceremony was held at the University of Lusíada in Lisbon to confer an honorary doctorate upon the architect Alberto Campo Baeza.
The Spanish architect was deeply moved, as this honorary doctorate is the fifth he has received in recent years: CEU San Pablo University (2018), the University of Rosario (Argentina, 2021), the Università della Svizzera italiana in Mendrisio (Switzerland, 2023) and Bucharest (Romania, 2026).
The ceremony was attended by numerous architecture professors who made no secret of their admiration for both the work and the person of Alberto Campo Baeza. The beautiful laudatio was delivered by Helena Botelho, an architect and director of the School of Architecture at the University of Lusíada. Alberto Campo Baeza’s grateful response, “Sol lucet omnibus”, was brief yet meaningful.
Alberto Campo Baeza, once again, summed it all up with his “OBRIGADO, OBRIGADO, OBRIGADO”.
This honorary doctorate has previously been awarded to such prestigious architects as Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura.
