2016 HOUSE IN MIAMI
Texts
The house of order and shade. We would like to make the most beautiful house in the world. A house that frames the infinite landscape with the shade of the palm forest. A house that brings order to the land on which it stands. A house that is settled.
Order is central to architecture. And here we are going to establish order on a sea-facing site with a total, virtual structure in all three directions, as if only the air is being brought to order.
Let us imagine that, initially, this space structure will encompass the entire site. Later, we decide which part of the structure we are going to use depending on the program requested, the budget, views and prevailing regulations. Then we fill in the spaces horizontally, floors and ceilings, and vertically, the walls.
With a plantation of palm trees, planted symmetrically, like a hypostyle hall of palms, we create a shaded area that embraces the house, protecting it from the sun and framing the infinite landscape.
Over time plants —jasmine, vines and bougainvillea— under the shade of the palm trees, will end up invading the house.
And our house will be like Paradise on Earth.
